Translating Pandemic Poetry
On September 20th 2020, with many of us well into our second wave and perhaps our third or fourth iteration of restrictions, a group of 15 collaborators met on Zoom to translate poetry together.

“An afternoon of collaborative translation”

In our last event of 2019, a wonderfully diverse group of collaborators came together to work on some experimental “jigsaw” poetry as well as English translations of Romanian poetry.
Romanian literary group
A collaboration between writer Bree Alexander and a group of Romanian migrants who had connected through the active Romanian community in Melbourne. They were also joined by Romania-based poet Vasile Baghiu. The group worked together on two Romanian short stories, titled in English “Diary of a girl who likes soup”, originally written by Cosmin Perta, and “Unfriend”, originally written by Diana Badica.
Bree participated in an interview about this experience with Translation Service Provider “Lexigo”. Find out more here!
The two stories are available to read in our publication Bordertown, No. 3: Sipyeon
